What You’ll Find in This Issue…

It’s summer here in the United States and the only thing that sounds better than sitting on the beach is doing it with a yarn project in one hand and a frosty fruity drink in the other (being careful not to spill your drink on your project of course).
Summer tends to be a slow yarn craft time, between the hot and sticky weather and the never-ending travel plans, to the need to entertain the kids while they are off from school, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to sit down and create.
For this reason we have some fun and quick projects in store for you in this issue. We are thrilled to have Erika Flory back again with another amazing pattern. For this issue she has created a beautiful child’s jumper that is a quick knit and perfect for a warm summers day.
We are also excited to have an original design by Tanya Brooks. She has taken the concept of the log cabin blanket one step further by creating a log cabin triangle rather than a square or rectangle. This pattern is great for using up the different yarns in your stash and by simply varying what yarns you use you can have a unique project each time.
In our travels we came across some knit and crochet patterns from the 1860's – that’s Civil War time here in the States. It was interesting to see how much has changed and yet how much more has stayed the same. The collection owner let us take pictures of the pattern books and due to their age (and the fact that their copyright expired long ago) we are reprinting them here for you. Try you hand at one and let us know how they come out!
Don’t forget to check out our great yarn directory. We have added several groups and guilds and one might be in your area. If you don’t see the group or guild you belong to, feel free to send it to us and we’ll get the information in our directory at once! It’s free of charge and we are happy to promote your yarn loving group!
We continue to get thank you letters from readers who have used the FREE classifieds section to either reduce or build their yarn stash. Don’t forget that it’s only in our classifieds where you can buy and sell all your yarn craft related stuff for FREE.
If you haven’t done so already, hop on over and sign up for our newsletter. By signing up you’ll always be the first to know about all the new features we’re adding or when we’ve launched a new issue.
And that’s the fun for now! We are so glad you have joined us on this great adventure and we hope that you’ll stick with us. We are the only free online magazine offering both knitting, crocheting, and even loom knitting in one place, and we’re working hard to make you proud!
Until Next Time,
