[Welcome] [Upcoming Issues] [Compensation] [Submission Packet] [Designer's Newsletter] Welcome Designers and Authors I am so happy you are interested in designing patterns and writing articles for our new online magazine For the Love of Yarn. This brand new venture hopes to bring a voice to more knitters and crocheters as well as to the hidden author in us all. We are so excited about opening more doors in this ever growing world of yarn crafts. We hope to reach working women (regardless if that work is in an office, as a housewife, as a student, or even as a grandmother - its still working!) who are eager to knit and crochet patterns that they can wear, share and show off their skills. While edgy and funky patterns are welcome, we also are interested in the more traditional patterns as well. So break out your needles and hooks and get designing! Through our articles we want to tell the story of our yarn crafts - from its history to its place in today’s world. How do your yarn crafts influence you? How has it affected your life? Have you seen something you want to share with us? Or do you just have a great story to tell? Regardless, we want to give you a voice and a place to share your work. You will find all of the information you need to get you started towards designing and writing for us, both here and in our submissions packet located at the bottom of this page. If you still have questions once you’ve read the entire packet, please feel free to contact our submissions manager at submanager@fortheloveofyarn.com. Our inbox fills up quickly so please be patient, but if you don’t hear anything within a week or so feel free to give us a gentle push.  Upcoming Issues For the Love of Yarn will publish four times a year on or around the first weekday of the month listed (example for the April – June issue will publish on or around April 1st). We have decided to do away with themes for each issue because some patterns and articles were just too good to wait! Our issues are as follows:
*If we have space available we will work to take any late pattern submissions, however space is first come first served. As soon as a new issue is published the old issues go into the archives. Issues will be kept intact in the archive. Please note that we have gotten LOTS of requests for women’s patterns in larger sizes.
Compensation for Submissions Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to provide any monetary compensation for design, pattern or article submissions. We are a small office with no revenue to date, any compensation would have to be paid out of our personal yarn budget (and we know you wouldn’t want that). It is our personal goal to obtain advertisers for the online magazine, and it is out of that revenue stream that we plan to pay (in the future) some form of compensation (for future issues). So until then please use this as a great chance to get published, build your resume, and as bragging rights to all of your friends and family (and please make sure you give your mother the URL so she can brag to all of her friends too). We are also not able (at this time) to provide yarn for your designs. Again, as we partner with local yarn stores and yarn companies in the future we hope to change this but for now you are responsible for obtaining your own yarn and supplies for your designs.
